First, one to use in my car to charge my phone. My dashcam power connection has a USB A port on it.
Second, I travel with work quite often and needed a cable to charge my phone using train and/or bus USB ports which are all USB A ports.
In both cases these cables work well so I'm pleased with them.
Up receiving it, I was quite surprised. The build quality is absolutely superb. In fact, I think this is the highest quality cable in my entire cable inventory, based upon fit and finish. This cable is heavy, stout, solidly constructed, and oozes with quality. They even ship it with removable plastic covers over the USB connectors. Just holding the thing, I get a sense that I received value for the high price paid. Upon trying the cable over the distance, I found that it performed at the promised rate (> 10 Gbps) and that my backups were progressing very well and without issue. I can't speak to reliability yet, but I fully expect to get a good and long life out of this investment.
For my use case (long distance USB-C run for disk backup), I received great value for the high price of the cable. I'd buy it again in a flash, and likely will given that I've got a couple of other long runs that I need to make as I continue to shuffle equipment around my office. Great stuff. Five stars!
Knocked a star off for the fact the usbc, while it works, does sits loose in any connect, meaning its not going to stay put (will fall out) if mounted vertically without a bit of tape.
I was concerned there might be intermittent connections or lag over a long active USB extension cable like this, but I had no problems at all. I tested with and without the extension cable, and there was no statistically significant difference in lag between the two.
Very happy with this cable, as it enabled my "other room" setup.
The housings are metal and they do get a bit warm when in use, but apart from that this cable is rather standard. That and it doesn’t like sharp bends due to it being part optical. Delivers power just fine too.
I used this cable for a long run between a hub and a Logitech cam. The Logitech cam requires power to be supplied to it over the C-to-C cable. It works flawlessly as a plug and play.
I highly recommend this cable. The cable is sturdy and light weight and works as advertised.
The solution works great and I don't have to worry about the actual performance of the cable itself because printing, scanning and engraving all don't use much bandwidth at all.
If it fails I will report back as it is installed in my house and in use in my office every day of the week basically.
The 50 ft length is appropriate for my needs and the connectors are heavy duty and substantial construction.
I appreciate the quality matching the listing.
So I got this optical USB-C cable, hooked it up to my computer, ran it up into the ceiling and across the living room, and then down the wall behind my sofa and out, where it is plugged into a USB-C hub*. My mouse, keyboard, and headset are then plugged into the USB-C hub and can be easily stored behind my sofa. No wires across the living room anymore, and the m/k/h are all in easy reach whenever I want to use them (with a few extra ports if I ever want to plug anything else in)
This optical cable appears to only pass 4.5W (5V 900mA) of power, so I did have to buy a separate USB-C power supply to hook into my USB-C hub to power all my peripherals. Just something to be aware of if you want to run a USB-C hub off this cable.
*For anyone who wants to do the same thing, I used the Sabrent USB-C hub since it does not have an integrated cable in it, allowing you to plug this optical cable into it. UNI also makes a similar hub.
