Moving down to 4k@120 is perfect no noticeable input lag or anything
Testing was on Skyrim heavily modded
I've tried using different settings such as RGB/4:2:2/4:4:4, lower rez than 4k, 60hz/120hz and limited/full range. When i first start the day without HDR it MIGHT work fine but once I put HDR it will start with the artifacting as seen on my video review. If I then proceed to turn off HDR it will continue with those lines and strange colors regardless if I lower the rez all the way to 800x600! I disconnect the HDMI and restart computer and still continues with low settings!
I'm just going to return since another 3080 reviewer on here said they got a new HDMI replacement and problems still occured just like me.
But as for the RTX 4060 I was able to achieve 4k 120hz HDR (didn't bother checking other settings), so, there's that lol.
I keep getting issue where screen blacks out like disconnecting picture. every 30 ~ mins, and it is more frequent if HDR enabled.
Excellent customer service from the seller and it looks like this is a great HDMI fiber optic cable after all, with the one caveat that it is kept away from any heat sources.
I'd love to know how this was certified. It worked great for the first 15 minutes or so, then started acting up. A few minutes later there was no picture at all. Denon AVR connected directly to a Sony Z9 display. Conventional 15 meter cable works flawlessly and has for years. I see from the reviews that I'm not the only one who had this problem.
The HDMI specification allows a source device (Blu-ray player, Xbox, PS5, etc) to provide up to 50mA of current to power an HDMI cable. If a cable attempts to use more power it can cause problems and even damage the equipment.
I've decided to test a few cables to see what they are using. For the test I cut apart an HDMI coupler, disconnected the +5V line (pin 13) and use a multimeter to measure the actual current pulled.
The phoossno is perfect and uses around 45mA of current. This is correct and follows HDMI specification. I've tested other more well-known cables and found they can use almost three times (!!) the allowed power.
Besides the cable itself, the customer service is also fantastic. They answered all of my questions (extremely fast) and went above-and-beyond all expectations!
OK so new Cable works perfectly , able to send both 4k Dolby Vision & Atmos content , no flickering, no stutter, HDR10 etc. No issues, Audio is working properly, just hope it lasts a few years , quite a deal to re run cable and lift 75 " TV off the wall, pita.
Be careful with cable, its fiber ,not 100% copper, also its only 1 Way directional
I actually had a failure at about 120 days so I went to phoossno.net, contacted them via their contact form & within 48 hours I was contacted and shipped a warranty replacement. Very polite and courteous, I highly recommend doing business with this company!
Had the cable for 3 months and died with light use. Had it attached to an lg C1 on a pc used only for light gaming on occasion, one day I find that the graphics card was no longer finding the TV. Tried another cable and found the tv immediately. I determined that the cable died. 90 dollars to crap out in 3 short months of probably no more than 40 hours total use.
When it worked it was great. All of these fiber 2.1 cables seem to have a finite life. Not sure if Gen 2 is improved or not, but Gen 1 is iffy.
I installed it through the in-wall media cable raceway that was put in when my house was built, and it had no issues being pulled with the pull string.
Their customer service is very responsive. Before my purchase, they answered my questions to explain their Gen 2 version has made a lot of improvements for the RTX 3080 and suggested I should get that. But they only have the 10 m version in stock while I only need 7 m. Their rep set up a special discount for me to match the 10 m price with their 7 m (Gen 2) one. A decision I’m glad I made.
Overall, if you need a high speed HDMI cable with length exceeding normal, I highly recommend this cable. It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. Their customer service is also excellent.
I had heard folks were happy with the Gen2 version of this cable, so I asked how you identified Gen1 / Gen2 (super quick reply, BTW).
Got my cable, verified the HDMI certification hologram. But the cable didn't work for me at all. I even tried to use the cable test facility in the Pioneer AVR, and it did not complete the test.
Looking through the variants in this listing, you'll see the 33ft (and 65ft) versions of this product describe / show them as Gen2. So I'm returning the first one, and will order the 33ft version to see if the Gen2 fixes the problem. I will update this review with the results.
UPDATE: Gen2 33ft cable arrived today, and it works! I'll do more testing with various formats, but the 4K HDR image was flawless!
I selected this one due to the length. The TV in my office is on the wall. I needed a long HDMI cord to present slides, mainly PowerPoint, from my computer when others are visiting.
Please note this is a one-way cable! Each end is marked ‘Source’ & ‘Display’; if you switch the two it will not work!
No disappointments and the cable is well built and flexible so it can be routed anywhere, wish they did a white variant but other than that amazing product.
Phoossno had very good online reviews for their long HDMI 2.1 spec cables. The cable feels well made and is apparently certified but no correct product labels on the box. Works for HDMI 2.0 (18 Gbps) - Apple TV - but the source connector heats up quite a bit. Most likely not a safe bet for long term reliability. Does not work for LG C1 Oled and PS5 with a 120Hz game - Call of Duty Cold War. The screen goes blank and the connector gets very warm. It is that connector’s logic driving the fiber optic signals.
Summary: unless you like experimenting with $100~$200 cables, give these cable guys another 6 months to a year to come up with fully functional/reliable (>20 ft) cables (requiring active components) for this bleeding edge spec of HDMI 2.1. Meanwhile I am just sticking to 4K @60Hz.
After switching back to my other monitor the input lag was gone, kinda sad but i think this issue is 100% on the cable and after alot of trouble shooting and research i still got the same problem time and time again.
Great for watching movies though....not so much gaming.
The source end connector gets a bit hot to touch but phoossno customer service has informed me that this is normal as the power consumption at the source connector is 5V 140mA at 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz and the zinc alloy material they are using for the connector casing efficiently dissipates the heat. They have also informed me that according to their testing the source end cable head temperature is within 50C max specified by the connector chipset they use and that working life is 100K hours according to the spec for this chipset.
phoossno customer service has been very responsive and seems knowledgeable.
I have tried a few other 8K cables but I was getting all sorts of problems like image dropping and washed-out color image, and no signal after some time.
After the frustration, I decided to try Phoossno's cable because it had HDMI ULTRA HIGH SPEED certified logo. This means the cable passed the test from HDMI org.
The cable works like a champ, simple plug and play and I am enjoying my 8K video game setup very much!
Kudos to Phossno!
