USB-C Fiber Optic Cable: 10Gbps Camera Connection Guide
Share
Need to place a USB camera away from its computer? A Phoossno USB-C fiber optic cable extends USB data for conference rooms, touch systems and compatible machine vision equipment. This USB 3.2 Gen 2 active optical cable supports a data rate of up to 10Gbps.
Quick compatibility check
- Connection: USB-C host to USB-C device. Connect the Host end to the computer and the Device end to the camera or peripheral.
- Purpose: USB data transfer, including video captured by a USB camera. It does not support direct USB-C display output to a monitor or TV.
- Distance: the product range lists extensions up to 50m. Confirm the exact length and device combination before ordering.
- Legacy devices: the product page limits USB 1.1 keyboard and mouse support to 15m. Confirm USB 2.0 and USB 3.x operation for the selected model and length.
Choosing a USB active optical cable for cameras
Check the camera's interface, required data rate and power consumption. A 10Gbps cable does not guarantee 10Gbps application throughput: the host port, camera and software also determine performance. Test the intended capture resolution and frame rate before permanent installation.
For a long-distance USB-C connection, check the connector housing against recessed camera sockets. Leave room for strain relief and follow the cable's specified bend radius.
Does it power the device or charge a laptop?
Confirm the available device-end power for your chosen length. Cable operation without an external supply does not guarantee enough power for every camera or peripheral. Do not assume laptop charging or USB Power Delivery support from the USB-C connector alone.
Can I use it with a USB-C monitor?
This model is for USB data. A monitor connection needs a cable explicitly supporting the required video mode, such as DisplayPort Alt Mode. USB-C describes the connector; data, display and charging capabilities must be checked separately.
